A new Study Technique! :D

July 13, 2014 1
Hey guys, i haven't been updating a lot lately (sorry too much school work!)
But i have something interesting to share. I have come across a great way to study! Finally, i realized why i couldn't give 100% attention to what i was studying, all along.

The "study method" i have come across is called the "Pomodoro Technique" and i have personally found it to be very helpful, and i have noticed more productivity in my tasks.

This technique, not only helps in productivity, but time management as well!
According to facts, our brains can have an attention span from 10 minutes to 40 minutes (average). So, continuous studying for hour(s) may not benefit us, therefore the Pomodoro Technique.

This technique is pretty simple and not as complicated as it sounds. This is what you have to do:
  1. Decide on the task to be done
  2. Set the timer to 25 minutes
  3. Work on the task until the timer rings
  4. Take a short break (5 minutes) after the timer rings
  5. After four pomodori (the intervals are called pomodori), take a longer break (15–30 minutes)

So basically, since we can "recharge" our brain after every 25 mins, information will be absorbed better.
You can get more information here:

~ My next post will be about the things i do in the Pomodori  ~

Hope this helped!

I was just laying on my bed, getting distracted from the chapter of ICT that i was reading, thinking about our life at this moment...i feel like it has become more complicated as more generations pass by. Not only do we have to know our school syllabus, but also things going on in the news, in sports, extra information on what we are learning, etc etc. We have to know so much. One textbook doesn't suffice; we need another textbook for reference, study materials, worksheets, other guides and we need to do extra research on the internet. Though this gives us an advantage of having lots of knowledge about the intricate world around us, it still causes stress and feeling of "not having enough time". Sometimes, there is so much to do, that we end up escaping that world for a while and get distracted by devices, internet, etc. We have so much pressure to learn so much. Sometimes, i feel so dumb when a person in my class uses some short form like RSS (just an example) and i have no clue what that even is. Maybe that's what increases the pressure. Sometimes it's hard to cope up with this and causes an imbalance of mood or whatever that is. Why is it that we have to know everything. i mean, is that really fair? What if I don't like watching sports...why should i know about it? ..Or if i'm not much interested in Computer Science, why should i know the different problems or extra knowledge which is out of the exam syllabus. Is it really required? Sometimes i feel like the world has too many expectations for our generation. They say the trend is - the generations keep getting smarter, but isn't the overall pressure and the expectations increasing at a faster rate? I may be wrong. But that's what i think right now.

How to work towards your goal
Many times we get distracted and forget to do to the important things first.
Studies are often neglected and procrastination is another problem among all teenagers.

First thing to do is to set a timetable. It may be hard to follow at first, but later you'll get the hang of it...

Usually we end up getting entangled in the different  tasks of the day and forget to do the important ones..e.g., sketching, surfing on the internet, cleaning the room, doing other household work and all that can consume time and after we finish our work, we forget about our homework/studying.

One way to tackle this problem is to make a list of things you have to complete within a specific time, for example one week or one month (depends) and then tick the items as you continue to finish them.
In this way, you will have an idea on how much time you should spend on each task to get all of them done. easy?

high-school and college exams mean a lot for the future. You can make up a simple, fake report card with the grades you want. For example:

it doesn't have to look really professional or anything...just something that is satisfying and clearly mentions all the subjects you have and the grades you want to get. (it does't have to be too big either)

Doing this, will remind you to work hard so that you achieve the grades that you want to. Just keep it in on your desk or somewhere, where you can see it often! :)

Next tip: while studying or doing your homework keep all your gadgets away and don't turn on your laptop till its really really required.

Next tip: when you are studying, make sure to gather all the required instruments near your study area (e.g.: pencil, pen, highlighters, books, rulers, erasers, sharpeners, etc) so that you don't have to get up again and again and end up distracting yourself when you get up. Also, make sure you go to the bathroom or have a glass of water (or keep a filled water bottle near you) before you start (so that you don't have to get up for that too!).

lastly, never give up on your hopes and dreams and keep working hard! have faith in yourself and always be positive! :)
